Advanced PowerPoint:
Animate Data

Title: Jan's Illustrated Computer Literacy 101

Revealing you data in parts by using an animation effect can help your audience digest the numbers.

Animation Scheme or Custom Animation

Animation scheme - Applies to a slide or master and usually includes animations for title and body placeholders, and often includes a slide transition also.

Choosing Apply to All Slides will apply the scheme to the masters instead of just selected slides.

Custom animation - Applies to selected objects on a slide or master. Can include several animations in sequence. Does not include a slide transition.

Tables

  • Animation Scheme does not affect a table.
  • Custom animation applies to whole table only.

Charts

  • Animation Scheme may affect chart, as a whole object. If AutoLayout was on when the chart was inserted or created, the chart will use the same effect as the Body text.
  • Custom animation can be applied to whole chart.
  • Some custom animations can reveal the chart by series or by categories.
